All Class Alumni Picnic

It was a very successful annual picnic and high school reunion for all alumni on May 6th at Heisler Park, 375 Cliff Drive, Laguna Beach.  To see photos taken at the latest picnic, click the Facebook logo at the bottom of this webpage. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.

We are always looking for volunteers to help with our annual picnics. Please contact our alumni president, Wendy Potter, by clicking either the Contact button above or the Facebook logo at the bottom of this webpage.

Breakers or Artists?

According to Wikipedia, the high school nickname was originally the Breakers. But after only 19 months, civic pride with Laguna's art community culminated in a student body vote on June 4, 1936 to change the name to "Artists."  In 2003, the student body voted to return to the "Breakers" nickname.

President's Message

Wendy Potter here, president of the Alumni Association. I want to apologize for not keeping up with the website and newsletter in recent months. Clive Soden has volunteered to design and keep up this new website. We all know how fortunate we are to have grown up in Laguna Beach. We all especially LOVE the way Laguna was back in the 50-60-and 70's, the best times of our lives. Getting together every year and hearing all the stories are what make the picnic so special. Along with getting together every year, it is also the Alumni Associations time to make money for scholarships for the graduating class. The last 5 years that I have been in charge we have given $20,000. The reason we are able to do this is because of your donations at the picnic and online to our Paypal account.

Every year we receive at least 20 letters from graduating seniors who are direct descendants of all of us. Each year I enjoy getting to read those letters, and I wish we could give money to every single applicant. But we only have so much money every year. I'm asking you again to please donate even if you are not able to attend the picnic. The yearly dues are $20 and, of course, you may donate more if you so choose. Every year we start back at zero because I give all money to scholarships. Your most recent donations have helped the graduating class of 2017!

If you are able to make the picnic I look forward to seeing you! Please be sure to join the Alumni Association each year.

Also, I'm looking for someone to take over my seat. If you or anyone you know who would like to be president and take over the reins it would greatly be appreciated. Please contact me.

Warmest Regards, Wendy Potter, Class of 78'
